Winner of 2024 Golden Chariot Award from Thailand stripped of Laureate title
For the first time in its more than 20-year history, the Organizing Committee of the prestigious international project has stripped Dr. Meechai Thaocharean of the Laureate title. He had received the Golden Chariot Award in the construction category in 2024 in Mumbai, India. This decision was prompted by this individual's fraudulent activities, his professional incompetence and dishonesty, which have accordingly discredited the honorary title of Laureate of the Golden Chariot Award. He is also the BRICS Alliance representative in Thailand.
The goal of any similar project, regardless of its level, status, or industry affiliation, is exclusively noble and righteous: to recognize the merits of the best companies and reputable individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of their country and the world. Our experts, through a competitive selection process, review many candidates who sometimes do not meet these criteria.
In our practice, this is the first time that the title of Laureate has been revoked from a winner. However, after consultations with our esteemed experts from many countries around the world, we decided that cases that have come to our attention – where a company or an individual engages in unlawful activities, money laundering, or fails to comply with the rules of fair business conduct – should not be concealed from the public but rather brought to people's awareness.
